Conte reportedly holds talks over potential player move as Chelsea consider further additions

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern would like to see a bit more depth come to Stamford Bridge this summer…

A number of top players have come to Stamford Bridge this summer, but with a selection of departures still likely forthcoming, there is a genuine need for additional depth under Conte.

This is a problem that the Italian is looking to solve, at least according to the Evening Standard, with the publication reporting that Conte held talks with Carlo Ancelotti after Chelsea’s game with Bayern Munich over a potential move for Renato Sanches. He is said to be available on loan this summer, potentially offering a decent solution to Chelsea’s midfield dilemma.

Sanches has struggled for game time in Germany, and whilst he wouldn’t likely be a starter at Stamford Bridge, he would certainly provide top level depth in a new-look Chelsea midfield.

That said, Bayern may not be willing to loan him to the Blues without first team assurances, and so any move will likely require in-depth discussions between the two clubs.

Landlord’s Verdict

Sanches is clearly a top talent, and whilst he struggled for game time last season, at 19-years-old – the best is yet to come. He has shown his quality at international level, but at a club like Bayern, he was always going to find it tough to get an opportunity.

That opportunity won’t come much easier at Chelsea, but with a need for depth in the midfield, he has a genuine chance of making an impact at Stamford Bridge.

An excellent passer and great at bringing the ball forward, Sanches would certainly offer Conte something different – and a loan move would pose little risk for the Blues.
