The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperately waiting for their chance to see Tiemoue Bakayoko in action…
However, with the midfielder still recovering from injury, that chance is taking far longer than most supporters had been expecting. Indeed, he has yet to even feature during Chelsea’s pre-season, leaving many concerned that his injury woes could be even worse than feared.
However, according to Ben Dinnery, all hope is not lost, and rather – Antonio Conte appears quite optimistic on the matter. Dinnery has taken to Twitter to reveal that Conte is still hopeful that Bakayoko will be fit enough to feature against Arsenal in the Community Shield in August – with the annual event serving as the first competitive fixture of the new season.

This would, of course, represent Bakayoko’s final opportunity to get a run out in a Chelsea shirt before the real business begins in the Premier League, and so his involvement will be important.
Not to mention the fact that the trophy is still highly regarded in England, and with Nemanja Matic not travelling to Asia with the Blues, Conte will otherwise only have Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante to choose from on the day.
Offering brute strength and power, Bakayoko will certainly make an impact if fit, and the Chelsea fans in the pub are desperate for him to start.
