The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are split on their opinions of Chelsea’s latest big money acquisition…
The news that Chelsea fans in the Tavern were dreading; according to the Guardian, John Terry is set to miss out against Liverpool this Friday.
The defender suffered an injury in the dying moments of Chelsea’s clash against Swansea at the weekend, and Jim White of Sky Sports had earlier tweeted that Terry’s fitness for the Blues’ next game was hanging in the balance.

However, as per the Guardian, Terry has now been ruled out for up to 10 days with strained ligaments in his foot – meaning that he will almost certainly miss the Liverpool game.
It will no doubt come as disappointing news for Chelsea fans in the Tavern, whom often place so much trust in their captain – especially in huge games like the upcoming Liverpool clash.
The good news for Chelsea fans is that they did sign a replacement defender on deadline day; the bad news for some of the Chelsea faithful in the Tavern is that his name is David Luiz.
Luiz has been a divisive figure since he arrived in England for the first time in 2011, and often struggled with concentration issues and committed a number of crucial mistakes.
Nonetheless, with Terry out – Luiz looks set to make his debut in a fixture that many Chelsea fans in the Tavern describe as the most important game of the season.
One Chelsea fan propped up against the bar, however, is not feeling concerned. He thinks that Luiz has gone away from Chelsea and matured over the last few years, and he will be coming back as a complete defender – ready for this weekend.
Our bar staff are not entirely convinced. They think Luiz is a liability, and often a mistake can be round the corner when the Brazilian is playing.
John Terry had played every Premier League game so far this season, and had looked in fine form alongside Gary Cahill. His departure will no doubt unsettle the Chelsea defence ahead of the Liverpool game.
With Kurt Zouma not yet fit for regular game time, David Luiz could be set to subsidise for Terry for at least the next week.
Could Luiz cost Chelsea this Friday?
