The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are always happy where there is a little bit of money to be made, and their delighted over the news that the club are set to benefit from a rival’s deal this summer.
According to reports from The Times, Premier League top four rivals Liverpool are set to seal a club-record £39m deal for former Chelsea man Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian international made just 19 appearances during his time in London, however, upon leaving the club on a permanent basis last summer the Blues added a 10% sell-on clause for any profit made by Roma on the deal.
Salah was taken to the Italian capital for a fee of £12m, meaning that should the £39m deal go through the Serie A side would make a profit of £27m – landing the west Londoners a nice little £2.7m bonus.
Our landlord has pointed out that whilst that fee won’t go far in terms of transfer fees it could give them the room to improve contract offers this summer.
Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! How do you think Salah will get on back in the Premier League? Will it prove to be a mistake that he was let go? Let us know…
