Conte set to continue Chelsea revamp with chase for 6ft 5 star still on

The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are optimistic that a deal could be agreed next summer.

Chelsea’s chase for a new central defender was well publicised this summer, with Blues fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern often seen discussing who might fill the Kurt Zouma-sized void in the heart of the Chelsea defence.

A number of players were linked, including Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly and now-Man City ace John Stones – whilst a late move for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli also fell flat.

In a bizarre turn of events, it was a shock move to bring David Luiz back to Stamford Bridge that came to pass, with the Brazilian defender signing for the Blues on a three-year deal.

Nonetheless, the work never stops for Antonio Conte, and with John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic’s Chelsea contracts set to expire at the end of the season – the Blues are seemingly preparing for a future without the Chelsea icons, much to the disappointment of the Chelsea fans in the Tavern.

According to German publication Bild, the Blues are already thinking about next summer, with the Blues set to launch a move for German defender Niklas Sule next year.

The player’s agent reportedly told Bild that there was interest from Chelsea over the summer, and that the London-based club are keen to reignite such interest next summer.

A move reportedly fell flat after the defender decided to stay with Hoffenheim for at least one more season in order to aid his development.

At just 21-years-old, Sule is already an established part of the Hoffenheim defence – having picked up 69 league appearances thus far, scoring five goals. He also recently made his Germany debut, making his first start on August 31st against Finland.

He was also a key part of the German Olympic football team this summer, whom went on to win the Silver medal in Rio.

At just 21-years-old, Sule is definitely still developing as a footballer; but our landlord thinks that he already looks the full package. Take a look at this short compilation video if you needed any more convincing…

Our bar staff think he could be perfect for Chelsea next season – especially if John Terry parts ways with the club.

Chelsea fans – we want to hear from you! Would Niklas Sule be good at Chelsea next year?
