The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern love any chance to get one over on fans from their top six rivals, and especially Chelsea since the arrival of former Blues manager Jose Mourinho.
However, it seems as if the fans will have to hold back on their gloating after the Special One seemingly failed to land Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
According to reports from Il Tempo, United boss Mourinho has spearheaded the club’s attempt to land the Belgian midfielder, who has also reportedly attracted interest from Antonio Conte at Chelsea, and has offered him a €7.5m-a-year deal.
However, the reports from Italy also claim that the 29-year-old has said ‘thanks, but no thanks’ to the United manager as he would rather continue with Roma.
While it will be a blow for Mourinho, our landlord reckons that should the club put the effort in they should be able to land Tottenham’s Eric Dier, with whom they’ve been strongly linked, to fill the same role.
