After Antonio Conte was confirmed as the next Chelsea manager earlier this week, speculation has increased regarding the changes he could make at Stamford Bridge and a major one is being reported today.
Sport Mediaset says Conte will overhaul the squad dramatically by allowing Oscar, Willian and John Obi Mikel to leave, in order to fund an incredible swoop for Juventus’ magical midfielder Paul Pogba.
Conte has a close relationship with Conte, having masterminded his breakthrough during the duo’s time at Juventus, and the French international is a top-target for the Italian boss this summer, as he eyes a British record transfer of £80m.
In order to fund such a move though, sales will have to be completed and Oscar, who’s been widely linked with an exit throughout the past year, will be axed along with the long-serving John Obi Mikel.
However, it’s the final player that may upset Chelsea fans as Willian has been the shining light in a disappointing season for the Blues, with the Brazilian pretty much directly responsible for putting Chelsea into the latter stages of the Champions League.
His performances have also helped Chelsea rekindle some form in the Premier League, leading to a late push for European football, so the decision to cash-in won’t go down well with sections of the fans.
Should Chelsea axe these three to land Pogba? Would it be worth it? Let us know in the comments below!
