For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, a move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is not a very popular…
With fans pointing towards his goalscoring record and lack of first team action for Los Blancos this season, many simply don’t think that he would be a good signing for the club.
However, it would appear as though Antonio Conte disagrees, with the Sun reporting that the Italian is pushing for the Blues to sign the striker this summer – with a £65 million move likely to be needed to get his man.
Despite the lack of support for Morata in the Transfer Tavern, a move could very well make sense. Of course, Conte likely had a hand in signing the striker prior to the manager’s departure from Juventus, whilst his goalscoring record this year certainly hasn’t been that bad. He has scored 15 goals in La Liga despite making just 13 starts – a mightily impressive record.
After such a good season, our landlord thinks that the Chelsea brass simply must trust their manager – as he is the reason why the club has done so well this year. Signing Morata might not be a particularly exciting move, but neither was signing Marcos Alonso – and he has become one of the signings of the season.
