The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern were hopeful that he might be back in time…
The Blues in the Tavern were disappointed following a 2-2 draw with Swansea at the weekend – and they faced yet more bad news in the fallout from the game.
In the closing moments of the clash, Blues captain John Terry went down after an innocuous looking challenge; with many fearing the worst.
Antonio Conte went on to confirm that JT did suffer an injury, but that he didn’t know whether he would miss game time as a result.
Now, fast forward 24 hours – and the picture surrounding JT’s injury appears much clearer – and unfortunately for the Chelsea faithful in the Tavern; more disappointing.
According to Jim White of Sky Sports, Terry is a doubt for Chelsea’s crunch clash with Liverpool on Friday, and is suffering from bad bruising and swelling around the knee.
Crucially, he has added that a further update will come tomorrow – which should confirm definitively whether he will make the game on Friday.

This will come as a crushing blow for the Chelsea fans in the Tavern, whom put so much faith in their captain – especially against a team like Liverpool.
It could mean a quicker-than-expected debut for returning Chelsea defender David Luiz, he could find himself thrust into the thick of it with a start against the Reds.
Despite the criticism of Luiz, our landlord is backing him to come into the Chelsea first team and prove his worth; and prove his doubters wrong.
