Conte’s Costa replacement looking to force through move

Having seen their club land deals for both Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko in the last couple of weeks, the Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see the Blues home in on a new striker ahead of the new season.

The general consensus here in the bar is that last term’s top scorer Diego Costa is off, meaning a big money replacement is needed. Everyone had expected that man to be Belgian Romelu Lukaku, however, after the former Everton man snubbed a Stamford Bridge return for a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford the hunt is on.

With that in mind, Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri has claimed that Torino striker Andrea Belotti has told his current side he wants a move to a bigger club this summer and that it is now down to the Premier League champions, who face competition from big spending AC Milan, to make the right offer.

The 23-year-old scored 26 league goals for Torino last term, six more than Costa at Chelsea, and racked up a further eight assists turning heads across the continent.

The Blues will, however, have to pay a hefty price for the Italian international, around €90m according to Palmeri.

Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Is Belotti the right fit for Conte? Is he worth the fee suggested? Let us know below…
