The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are brimming with excitement over the prospect of seeing their side back in the Champions League next season, having already lifted the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first season.
However, before they get to that point there is business to be done by their Italian manager as he looks to bolster the Chelsea ranks in order to compete on all fronts over the coming campaign.
With that in mind, the former Juventus and Azzurri boss is making a last ditch attempt to add some mettle to his defence.
That’s according to Tribal Football, who claim that Conte is launching one last offer for Roma defender Kostas Manolas before he finalises a move to Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg.
The punters here in the Tavern know that Conte needs to add one more centre-half before the season gets underway and our landlord reckons this attempt for the £25.5m-rated defender could mean that their move for Virgil van Dijk could be on the rocks, which is coming as a relief for the Southampton fans in the corner.
Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of Manolas? Do you think Conte will land the deal? Let us know below…Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
