Conte’s summer plans recieve big boost as reported Chelsea target is ready for move

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a few defensive signings this summer, and it would appear as though one player has his eye on a move to Stamford Bridge….

According to the Mirror, Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand has told team-mates that he is ready to leave the club this summer – with both Chelsea and Liverpool reportedly in the hunt for his signature.

Bertrand has been one of the Premier League’s standout players over the last few years, seamlessly taking over the mantle left behind by Luke Shaw at St Mary’s.

With fine performances, however, often comes increased ambition – and with Southampton struggling to battle for trophies – the risk of their top players leaving is a very real prospect.

Chelsea, of course, will likely be delighted at the news – with the prospect of their ex-defender returning to Stamford Bridge undoubtedly an exciting one. Marcos Alonso has impressed, but Chelsea desperately need more depth in the role – and Bertrand can provide that.

Our landlord thinks that it would be a great deal for the Blues, though he thinks that Liverpool will also be involved in the race.

Chelsea and Liverpool fans – thoughts?
