Chelsea and Liverpool are set for a battle this season in the Premier League, but it would appear that they could also rival each other off the field too…
According to Le Parisien, the clubs are keen on breakout PSG star Presnel Kimpembe, who has undergone a rapid rise to stardom this season under Unai Emery in Paris.
The young central defender is seemingly in-demand, and a series of stunning performances have forced Emery’s hand and he has thrust the youngster into the PSG first team set up.
Whilst PSG are likely to be keen to hold on to their latest young talent, the Premier League clubs have received a boost in that, according to Le Parisien, contract talks between PSG and the player have stalled.
They report that whilst talks are ongoing, the two parties appear far apart – and that could lead of Chelsea and Liverpool into the fold.
The deal would make a lot of sense from the perspective of the English clubs, with each struggling for defensive depth in the middle of the park.
Are PSG likely to sell? It appears unlikely, but if a new contract cannot be agreed upon – they could be left with no choice.
Presnel Kimpembe has already made an impressive 7 league appearances so far, and has quickly established himself as a favourite of PSG boss Unai Emery.
