The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in The Mirror that claims their club’s English left-back, Danny Rose has suffered a recurring calf injury and will face a race to be fit for the World Cup. Rose has lost his place as Tottenham’s first-choice left-back to Ben Davies owing to a public outburst about life at Tottenham and a knee injury last year.

Rose had been one of the Premier League’s best defender’s throughout the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons before suffering a nasty knee injury that kept him out for almost all of 2017. When on his game, Rose’s pace down the wing and ability to pick out a teammate when he gets to the byline made him one of Spurs’ prime outlets down the left-hand side, and he even chipped in with a few goals in his best two years, a particular highlight for the former Sunderland man would’ve been scoring the winner in a 2-1 win against Burnley at White Hart Lane in December 2016.
The Spurs fans propping our bar up will no doubt be disappointed with the way Rose has fallen off of the wagon with his attitude and injury issues. The left-back has achieved 16 England caps and started three out of England’s four games at Euro 2016. England fans two years ago would’ve looked forward to the World Cup in Russia thinking that Danny Rose would kick on to become the nation’s outright left-back, however, it now looks like Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand will be preferred to the Tottenham man this summer.
