Controversial move as Arsenal hand star-man mid-season break

Alexis SanchezArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are arguing amongst themselves as to whether their manager’s controversial call is the right move for the club.

The Daily Mirror states Wenger will rest Alexis Sanchez for the next few weeks in order for the forward to recharge his batteries, after an extremely busy year.

An inaugural Premier League season followed Alexis’ World Cup campaign and he enjoyed another business summer this year, helping Chile win the Copa America for the first-time in their history.

He was expected to return to action later than the rest of the squad, after being handed an extended break, but showed determination to return as soon as possible and surprisingly made the bench for the opening Premier League clash with West Ham United.

Whilst Arsenal are already battling with a severe injury list, Wenger is preparing to give Alexis a break to ensure he doesn’t suffer from a burn-out; especially with a busy run of festive fixtures ahead.

Arsenal’s three games in November following the international break see them travel to West Brom and Norwich City, either side of the Champions League hosting of Dinamo Zagreb, in games where the Gunners should cope with Alexis’ absence.
