The news of a supposed ‘done deal’ being called off has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern, courtesy of Dominic King of the Daily Mail.
He believes Daniel Sturridge’s £12 million move to Liverpool has hit a stumbling block due to a disagreement over agents fees.
Liverpool are reportedly stamping down on the money they pay agents over transfers, and a planned medical for Wednesday didn’t take place as the two parties failed to reach an agreement.
Liverpool had hoped the medical would have been completed in time for Sturridge to have been officially unveiled on the 1st of January.
It is also understood there have been some minor issues between Liverpool and Sturridge’s advisors.
Brendan Rodgers is still confident the deal will go through, but should it not, he is set to turn to Kevin Gameiro of Paris Saint Germain, with the French international available on loan.
