Coyle weighing up £2m bid for Newcastle striker

Owen Coyle is ready to try and prise Andy Carroll away from Newcastle with a £2m bid for the young striker.

The Daily Mail claim that Coyle is trying to trump a host of clubs that have been impressed with the Gateshead born striker in his first full season by trying to bring him to the Reebok stadium.

After failing to bring talk of the town Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford to St. James Park, manager Chris Hughton will be desperate to hang onto the former academy player, but if Coyle can meet Newcastle’s valuation of the player, then owner Mike Ashley may cash in.

The striker, who only recently turned 21, has only scored 4 times as the Magpies push for promotion but in his 19 appearances this season, it is not just his goal scoring that has attracted attention and Scotland have tried to get him to change his nationality in order to play for them.
