Leicester City fans here in the Tavern are delighted to have kept their star man Riyad Mahrez this window, although a summer exit is already looking more than likely.
Claude Puel has done his best to ensure that every player in the Leicester City squad is satisfied with what goes on inside the club, as in order for the Foxes to enjoy progression this season there must be positive vibes from within. However, one player who could potentially harm the aura being let off around the King Power Stadium is Riyad Mahrez, as his wishes weren’t granted during the January transfer window. As according to reports from Bleacher Report, Leicester City are preparing to have clear the air talks and to make fresh promises with the Algerian in order to ensure the best-case scenario is reached for the Foxes.
Indeed, it didn’t take a genius to realise that the 26-year-old was seeking a move away from the East Midlands, as a move to Manchester City seemed to be the desired destination of the Algerian. But, since failing to let Mahrez leave the club during the January window, it’s fair to say that the player is less than happy with how his wishes weren’t granted after now missing his third-straight day of training as part of a backlash.
However, the club have stated that they just want the player to give his all for Claude Puel’s side for the rest of the season, as a summer move is looking like becoming inevitable for the Algerian. Indeed, the Foxes will surely continue to look at getting their money worth out of the forward for the remainder of the campaign, with memories still fresh in the mind from his brilliance during their title-winning season.
Riyad Mahrez craved a move away from the King Power Stadium, and to not be granted it due to the club’s greediness over the price for the Algerian has clearly annoyed the player. So, it looks as if they’ll struggle to get the player’s mind set on featuring for the Foxes in the rest of the campaign, with such bad memories now surrounding the club after the January disagreements. Nevertheless, a move to the Etihad is looking likely in the summer, so Mahrez has the difficult task of riding the rest of the season out in the East Midlands as he looks forward to the opening in May.
