‘Crying’, ‘Way better than Iwobi’ – Arsenal fans on Twitter emotional over promising footage

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to footage (tweeted by Charles Watts of football.london) of their Spanish midfielder, Santi Cazorla, out on The Emirates pitch before their huge Europa League clash against Atletico Madrid yesterday. The Spaniard has been out of action for over 18 months with plantar fasciitis and looked like his career would be over at times during his time on the sidelines.

To say Cazorla is a well-loved figure to the Arsenal fans is an understatement. The little magician will be a welcome addition back to the squad when he returns from his horrible injury and he’ll be fighting to be fit in time to play under Arsene Wenger before the Frenchman walks away in the summer. The 33-year-old last played in October 2016 when the Gunners overcame Swansea 3-2 at The Emirates in the 2016/17 season.

Now though, Santi Cazorla will be returning to action in a very different Arsenal side. Since his last appearance, Alex Sanchez has left the club and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have all been recruited to try and boost the club’s fortunes on the pitch. So far it’s not going well for the club though, as they’re languishing 6th in the Premier League and look destined to be knocked out of the Europa League in the last four after failing to capitalise against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid last night.
