However they will be worried as they read pages of the Guardian in the Transfer Tavern, which states that Pardew is interested in taking the England managers job.
The 54-year old manager insists he is fully focused on the job in hand at Selhurst Park but he admits that the job of managing the England national team would be something that would interest him.
Current England manager Roy Hodgson’s contract runs out after EURO 2016 next year and Pardew is one of the names linked to the position if Hodgson is not kept on. England have breezed through to EURO 2016 winning all ten of their qualifying games and topping their group with ease. However it is the tournament itself where Hodgson and his side will really be judged.
“I haven’t brought it up once, I don’t want to talk about it today, it’s not on my agenda and I’m quite happy at Crystal Palace.”
“But it’s the England job. If you’re English and don’t want it then there must be something wrong with you.”
Pardew has done a brilliant job so far at Palace and after five wins in eight games so far this season they have risen to fourth in the Premier League.
Although Pardew was never capped for England during his playing career he remains passionate and patriotic and it seems would not avoid the call if it ever came his way to manage the national side.
Palace fans, would Pardew be a good manager for England? Let us know in the comments below!
