Crystal Palace close in on deal for Premier League winner

The Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted about this…

Since joining Crystal Palace, Sam Allardyce has not had the best time of it. It was always clear, particularly after such a poor start to the season, that the Eagles needed some serious work – and Allardyce surely knew that he had some serious business to attend to over the course of the January transfer window.

Now, less than 2 weeks into the window, it would appear as if the Eagles are closing in on a significant addition to their squad.

According to the Telegraph, Leicester City are set to sell winger Jeff Schlupp to Crystal Palace for a fee of around £12 million – with a deal set to be completed within 24 hours.  Whilst a deal has yet to be agreed, the Telegraph note that they are close to agreeing one – with confirmation likely to follow thereafter.

The news has delighted the Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom are hoping that the deal is the first of many over the next few weeks.

Schlupp was a pretty key part of the Foxes’ route to Premier League glory last season, with the Ghanian winger making 24 appearances in the league, including substitute roles. Quick and technical, he is sure to add a dose of energy to the flanks at Selhurst Park, with Sam Allardyce seemingly keen to improve his attacking options at the club.

For the Crystal Palace fans who haven’t seen much of him, have a look at his best bits below…
