Crystal Palace close to completing deal for Khouma Babacar

Crystal Palace have been looking to make improvements to their squad this summer and could be about to make one signing that would certainly help them achieve those aims.

Roy Hodgson is determined for his side to improve upon last season’s Premier League campaign, however, they struggled in front of goal at times, which left them ruing some of the results they picked up along the way.

Christian Benteke only managed to net three goals in the top-flight, whilst Alexander Sorloth struggled to make a real impact following his arrival in January. Wilfried Zaha had proved to be the Eagles star during the year and Hodgson has been working hard to get him some help.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, the Selhurst Park outfit are on the verge of capturing Sassuolo striker Khouma Babacar. It is understood Palace are prepared to pay £12million for the forward who has only just joined the Serie A outfit from Fiorentina.

The Verdict:

Palace will know that they need a new striker to lead the line this season after they struggled to find goals on a consistent basis. To put things into perspective, midfielder Luka Milivojevic was the only player to reach double figures and the majority of his goals were from the penalty spot.

Babacar is not a prolific scorer in his own right, however, the Senegalese made the most of the chances he was given during his time in the Serie A and could prove to be a smart addition for Palace to make this summer.
