Crystal Palace closing in on signature of former England international

green7832Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed major progression under Alan Pardew and their gathering in their masses after work for a few pints, whilst following the latest transfer news on the TV.

The Daily Mail suggests Palace are closing in on a new goalkeeper, with former England international Rob Green looking set to move across London from QPR.

QPR are keen to get the 35-year-old goalkeeper off their wage bill, as they continue to adjust to life in the second-tier following their relegation from the Premier League, and it seems that their wishes will be met.

Crucially, Green is just five appearances shy of matching a clause in his QPR contract that means he would be entitled to a new contract at Loftus Road- and QPR are keen to ensure that that doesn’t happen.

Crystal Palace already have three goalkeepers on their books, in the form of Wayne Hennessey, Julian Speroni and Alex McCarthy, and the addition of Green will increase the competitiveness in their squad.

Our landlord is baffled as to why Palace need this many goalkeepers though and expects one of their current crop to leave, should Green sign before the deadline.

Palace fans, do you want Green to arrive today? Let us know in the comments below!
