Crystal Palace confident of landing Max Meyer

Crystal Palace have been looking at strengthening their side this summer as they look to fill the void left in the midfield.

The Eagles are looking rather thin in the middle of the park as they head into the upcoming Premier League campaign, following the departures of Yohan Cabaye and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Frenchman left Selhurst Park following the expiration of his contract, whilst the England international returned to Chelsea following his impressive loan spell in south London.

Roy Hodgson has been working hard to find suitable replacements for the duo, and according to reports, he could be on the verge of a huge coup this summer.

According to a report in The Guardian, Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal for Max Meyer with it being claimed productive talks have been held and a medical has been scheduled.

The German midfielder is a free agent after leaving Schalke at the end of the season and it is understood the Eagles are confident they can land the 22-year-old.

The Verdict:

The signing of Meyer would be a huge boost to everyone at Selhurst Park and one that will add quality to the side.

The German was considered to be one of the best young players to have come out of the Bundesliga and attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Olympique de Marseille this summer.

He could become Palace’s second signing of the transfer window, following Vicente Guaita, and could be a huge hit at Selhurst Park next season.
