Crystal Palace confirm signing of Cheikhou Kouyate

Crystal Palace have been looking to make improvements this summer as they look to build on last season’s Premier League campaign.

The Eagles finished the season strongly despite a poor start to the football calendar and Roy Hodgson is determined to make sure that does not happen to his side again.

The club have already added to their goalkeeper ranks during the transfer window, with the addition of Vicente Guaita, and it is believed the former England manager is keen on making changes to his midfield.

The Palace boss has seen Yohan Cabaye and Ruben Loftus-Cheek both depart from Selhurst Park his summer, leaving the middle of the park fairly thin, however, he has been quick to rectify that.

The club have announced on their official website that they have completed a deal for West Ham United’s former midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate for an undisclosed fee.

The Senegal international has signed a four-year deal with the Eagles and will be looking to make an impact with his new club.

The Verdict:

Crystal Palace will be delighted to have got a deal done for the 28-year-old, as it once appeared it may not happen.

There were concerns that the club could not reach an agreement to a fee with West Ham, whilst there was also some speculation about Palace’s failure to reach a deal with Kouyate about his personal terms.

However, he is now a Palace player and the South London outfit and could be a huge signing as they will be hoping he can have a huge impact on the side as they look to remain competitive in the Premier League once again.
