The Crystal Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to sign a new striker in the winter transfer window. Christian Benteke currently starts up front for the Eagles but there is a lack of strength in depth.
According to recent reports, a Premier League forward is on their radar. Reliable football journalist Alan Nixon is reporting via Twitter that Watford striker Stefano Okaka is a target for Roy Hodgson’s side in January.
Crystal Palace want Stefano Okaka as a back-up option to Christian Benteke. Okaka is out of favour at Watford and not getting much game time as he is behind the likes of Andre Gray and Troy Deeney in the pecking order at Vicarage Road.
As a result, Watford boss Marco Silva could consider letting him go if the price is right. The 28-year-old has only played a total of six games this season for the Hornets – four of which have come from the bench.
This included just the one goal – in the first game of the season against Liverpool. But he might want to move away if he is promised better first team opportunities elsewhere.
The four cap Italy international has previously played for the likes of Roma and Anderlecht.
Stefano Okaka is not a prolific striker in England but he has popped up with some important goals for Watford.
Silva clearly doesn’t favour him so a move to Palace could interest him.
He would play second fiddle to Christian Benteke but would still get more minutes than he is currently.
