Crystal Palace considering swoop for Tomas Holy

Crystal Palace are looking to make a mark in this transfer window this summer as they plan on improving their side ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The Eagles are desperate to add some quality around the likes of Wilfried Zaha and have been linked with moves for Max Meyer, Maxime Gonalons and Cheikhou Kouyate recently.

Roy Hodgson has already seen goalkeeper Vicente Guaita arrive from Getafe this summer, however, it appears the Selhurst Park outfit have another shot-stopper on their radar.

According to a report by TeamTALK, Palace are a number of Premier League and Championship clubs to have taken an interest in Gillingham’s Tomas Holy.

The Czech ‘keeper has been earning rave reviews for his performances with the Gills in League One last season, following his release from Sparta Prague.

Palace are thought to be one of those sides monitoring the situation, although they will face competition for the 26-year-old as the likes of London rivals Arsenal and West Ham United are also thought to have an eye on the 6ft 9in giant.

The Verdict:

It would appear to be a strange move for Crystal Palace to go after another goalkeeper this summer.

With the arrival of Guaita, who would be considered the first choice, the club also has Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni on their books who are both very experienced shot-stoppers.

However, if the club are considering a swoop for Holy, it may just leave the door open for one of them to depart, with it thought the Wales international the more likely to make a move.
