The Crystal Palace fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports concerning a club transfer target.
According to the Twitter feed of The Times sports reporter Gary Jacob, Crystal Palace target Michy Batshuayi has rejected the chance to join the club this summer.
The Premier League side had agreed a fee of £31,5 million for the striker with French side Marseille, and were hopeful of bringing the forward to London this summer.
Batshuayi could still head to the capital this summer with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur being mooted by our landlord for the Belgian international.
The 22-year-old made his name at Belgian side Standard Liege and move to Marseille in the summer of 2014 and has not looked back since, scoring 33 goals in 78 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.
Batshuayi is currently in France playing for his national side Belgium and scored his first goal of the tournament in his side’s 4-0 demolition of Hungary at the weekend.
A handful of Eagles fans by the pool table are gutted about this news, and feel he would have been a sensational coup for the club!
