Crystal Palace eye move for 35-year-old free agent to solve striker crisis

The Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern are extremely concerned about the rest of this season.

The start to the current campaign has been disastrous in all senses.

Seven Premier League games in and the Eagles are rock bottom of the Premier League with no wins, no points and not even a single goal.

They have sacked Frank de Boer and Roy Hodgson is yet to inspire them to scoring a goal or picking up a point.

And matters were worsened when Christian Benteke was ruled out for several weeks with an injury.

As a result, Roy Hodgson has been scouring the market for a free agent striker because Crystal Palace have no senior forwards on their books.

This search has led him to a shock name.

Alberto Gilardino could be offered a short term deal at Selhurst Park, according to a report by ESPN.

Having previously looked at the likes of Carlton Cole and Rickie Lambert, Hodgson is now setting his sights on Alberto Gilardino.

The 57-cap former Italy international is a free agent after leaving Pescara.

During his stellar career, the 35-year-old has represented the likes of Parma, AC Milan and Fiorentina.

Now Gilardino could be set to be handed a chance in the Premier League.
