Crystal Palace fans have responded on Twitter to the reminder of a special anniversary for their current sporting director Dougie Freedman.
The Palace Twitter account announced that it was on September 8 in 1995 that the Scotsman joined the club.
The 45-year-old had a number of spells at Selhurst Park and is one of only a selection of players who have ever scored more than 100 goals for the club.
The manager later joined Palace as an assistant manager to Paul Hart as the club were in administration in 2010, which eventually led him to being offered the job full-time as manager in 2011.
He had a great start to his managerial career at Palace, keeping them up after George Burley was sacked in his first season, solidifying in his second season with the team in 17th place, before a great start to the 2012/13 season caught the interest of recently-relegated Bolton Wanderers. Despite being lower in the table, Freedman left the club for Bolton. Palace went on to get promoted and Bolton fell short off the play-offs and he was eventually sacked. He rejoined the club in 2017 as a sporting director.
Palace fans on Twitter generally has positive things to say about the anniversary, with many remembering their favourite goals from the Scotsman and one even called him a legend.
