Crystal Palace: Fans have mixed views on Jordan Ayew return - Crystal Palace

Lots of Crystal Palace fans given mixed responses to the news of their new signing, Jordan Ayew.

The Ghanaian has returned to the club after spending a season loan at Selhurst Park last term, the club have confirmed.

Ayew has left Championship club Swansea for a reported fee of £2.5million, according to the BBC.

Palace have re-signed the attacker despite his struggles to make the first-team last season. He played just 20 times in the league, with only 14 starts and scored just the one goal.

The striker has made 100 premier league appearances and can play across the front three positions, according to stats from Transfermarkt.

Jordan Ayew has been at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament this summer with Ghana before they were knocked out in the last 16 on penalties to Tunisia. While Ghana didn’t succeed, the tournament wasn’t a bad one for the attacker, chipping in with two goals and a goal in the penalty shout out as he led the attacking line for the Black Stars.

He told the club website: “I am very happy. I really enjoyed myself last season.

“I enjoyed the stadium, the fans, the boys – they were really good to me – everything here was positive and that’s why I decided to continue with Crystal Palace.”

Manager Roy Hodgson said: “We are delighted to secure Jordan’s services for another three seasons at Crystal Palace.

“He has proved himself as a dedicated and hard-working member of the squad, and certainly played his part in the club securing its highest ever Premier League points tally in the last campaign.”
