Crystal Palace fans have given a mixed response to news linking them with a new right-back.

The Eagles have been identified as a potential suitor for Rangers' captain James Tavernier, who is reported to be potentially leaving Ibrox this January, with a number of clubs apparently interested, according to talkSPORT.

It's said within the report that Rangers are eyeing a replacement from Argentina, Leonel Di Placido, to potentially replace Tavernier if he is to leave the club.

The 27-year-old right back has been in Glasgow since summer 2015. He has been a regular at the club racking up 149 appearances in the league, scoring a very impressive 33 goals from defence.

According to The Scotsman's reports, last season he was the highest scoring full-back and was involved in more goals than any other in world football (top flight, domestic and continental fixtures). Furthermore, he delivered more crosses than any other in the Rangers team with 216 and with a 40.74 per cent accuracy.

There's been a mixed response from Palace fans, with many realising that there is a big need for a right-back who can get forward and get balls in with only Joel Ward and Martin Kelly available in that position - who failed to register an assist between them last year.

Other fans have been a bit more cautious about the ability of his defending, and do not think the full-back is able to defend well enough to play in the Premier League.
