Many Crystal Palace fans have reacted to a club tweet showing a former Eagles player having a blinder of a game versus QPR.
Will this be Wilfried Zaha's final season at Crystal Palace?
The club account shared a video from 2005 of Marco Reich’s magic day away at Loftus Road, where he managed to score two great goals for the Eagles, helping them secure a 3-1 win in west London. These were the German’s only two league goals for the red and blue.
Reich was signed by the club in 2005 by Iain Dowie from Derby County. While his career was pretty short-lived at Palace – he only played 27 league games for the Eagles – he is still fondly remembered by many Palace fans.
This performance is one that a lot of Palace fans remember very fondly. In fact, the opener on the night was even shortlisted for Crystal Palace’s goal of the decade between 2000 and 2010.
The tweet brought back the moment as it was 14 years ago yesterday that Reich scored the impressive double.
It brought back many memories for these Palace fans, as you can see below…
Was at this game. Reich was outstanding during his early months at #CPFC. Didn't seem to make quite the same impact when he was given a long term contract. Pity really, he could have been a great.
