Many Crystal Palace fans have responded on Twitter after popular fan account @HLTCO tweeted about a goal that Christian Benteke scored a few seasons ago.
The account tweeted Benteke’s goal in the Eagles’ 2-1 win away at top of the league Chelsea in 2017.
Has Gary Cahill been one of the signings of the summer?
With Sam Allardyce at the helm, Benteke was fully in his stride during that season and scored the winner with a beautiful chip over Thibaut Courtois.
The goal shows Benteke picking the ball up from deep before making a strong run towards the box, playing a one-two with Wilfried Zaha before receiving it back, taking a light touch as Courtois goes to ground, before delicately lifting the ball over his head.
The big Belgian striker managed to score 15 goals from 36 league games that season — by far his best and most prolific campaign at the club. He scored 17 in all competitions. Nearly three years on, he has added just four more goals to his Palace account, scoring 21 goals in 100 games overall for the Eagles.
Many Palace fans responded saying how they wish the 28-year-old could have that confidence now.
Here are some of the replies below…
If only he still had that level of confidence.

He over runs the ball and kind of muddles through but it’s a great finish.

He wouldn’t dare try that now, and if he did it would end up as a throw in for Chelsea. Imagine if he refunds this form again. We’d have a class side.

his confidence levels were so high then, it’s such a shame to see how he’s fallen since then

How I wish he'd get his MoJo (and confidence) back.
