Crystal Palace hoping to sign 27-year-old forward ahead of West Bromwich Albion

Crystal Palace are set to enter the race to sign Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez during the summer transfer window, although the Eagles could face competition for his signature from the vastly improved West Bromwich Albion.

According to The Mirror, Palace boss Sam Allardyce has identified Rodriguez as one of his top summer targets with the 27-year-old slipping way down the pecking order at St. Mary’s Stadium.

The news has delighted the Palace fans who are present here in the Transfer Tavern, with a couple of the club’s supporters ready to have an almighty booze-up should the forward sign for the club.

Rodriguez was on the cusp of doing great things a couple of years ago but a serious knee ligament injury curtailed his progress and next season could be the biggest in the forward’s career to date.

One Palace fan is chatting to the landlord whilst sipping a gin and tonic and he thinks that Selhurst Park could prove a good place for Rodriguez to go to in order to kick start his flailing career.

Palace fans, would you welcome Rodriguez to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
