Crystal Palace are thought to be interested in signing a new right-back in the summer transfer window and have already identified one potential target.
According to a report by Calciomercato, Montpellier’s Ruben Aguilar has caught the attention of the Selhurst Park outfit.
However, they are not believed to be the only Premier League side to have taken an interest in the 25-year-old, with Everton also thought to be keen.
And, it is not difficult to understand why the right-back has got clubs in England’s top-flight interested in him.
Aguilar has been a key performer for Montpellier in Ligue One this season, as he has been impressive in his 21 appearances for the club so far, with one goal and two assists to his name.
The right-back has helped his club to fifth place in the league with the second best defensive record, leaving them just outside the Champions League qualification spots.
Crystal Palace already have an excellent right-back in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, although his future at Selhurst Park may be in doubt if he continues to impress.
Aguilar would have to be considered a perfect replacement for the young Englishman should he depart, as the 25-year-old has shown that he can defend, as well as attack extremely well.
However, with Everton also rumoured to be interested, whilst Montpellier could potentially be playing Champions League football next season if things continue to go as they are, it could be difficult for Roy Hodgson’s side to lure him to south London.
