The Crystal Palace supporters here in the Tavern have been interested to read on Chronicle Live that Patrick van Aanholt is a major transfer target.
The Sunderland defender is reportedly under close inspection from Eagles boss Alan Pardew as he looks to sign quality options to bolster his defence.
Dutch full-back Van Aanholt is expected to be available for around £3 million if Sam Allardyce’s team are relegated from the Premier League this term. The 25-year-old has had a mixed season, having initially demonstrated defensive weakness, but he has somewhat improved since January.
Meanwhile our landlord believes that rumours linking Allardyce with a possible summer move for defender Joey O’Brien, who he worked with at Bolton and West Ham, could possibly mean that Sunderland look to cash in on Van Aanholt.
Palace themselves have had a shaky season and have only just about done enough to secure their status in the top-flight, although they have plenty to look forward to as they’ve got a FA Cup final with Manchester United on the horizon.
