Crystal Palace will surely be able to breathe a little easier now when it comes down to their status in the Premier League, right? The victory over Newcastle United at the weekend appears to have done enough to keep them in the top-flight for another campaign.
The Eagles will need to make additions in the summer, especially in attack, if they are to improve and build on this season and it appears Roy Hodgson’s side have been keeping tabs on a winger who has been making an impression recently.
What’s the News?
The Scottish Sun are claiming Crystal Palace are monitoring the situation surrounding Paris Saint-Germain’s Timothy Weah ahead of a possible summer swoop.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Celtic, where he has put in a number of impressive performances, and the Scottish giants are believed to be keen to keep him at Parkhead for a little longer.
However, his contributions have not gone unnoticed south of the border, with both Crystal Palace and Bournemouth both allegedly keen on the American international.
As mentioned, Crystal Palace could clearly do with bringing in a few additions with an attacking mind and Weah could prove to be a smart addition and one that PSG may favour over a second spell with Celtic.
The Eagles would be able to offer him more competitive football and at a higher standard, which provided the teenager gets the opportunities to shine, could help to further aid his development and help him reach the potential he is expected to hit.
The 19-year-old would bring some additional creativity to the side and would pose a dangerous threat to a number of full-backs within the Premier League, whilst he has shown that he also has an eye for goal – something Hodgson’s side have seriously lacked over the duration of the current season.
However, because he is so young, it could be a major risk for the Selhurst Park outfit to take and one could argue that it may be too big of one to take, especially if the south London side find themselves struggling at the bottom of the table once again.
Crystal Palace fans, would you take the risk and bring Weah to Selhurst Park in the summer? Or would you look elsewhere? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
