It has been said time and time again, however, Crystal Palace are going to need to make additions to their squad this summer if they are to improve their Premier League ranking.
Roy Hodgson’s side could do with adding a creative spark that can also provide them with an additional goal tally in the middle of the field and it seems one man on his radar may just fit the bill nicely.
What’s the News?
Crystal Palace have joined the race for Rangers’ Scott Arfield, according to a report by The Scottish Sun.
Southampton are also thought to be interested in the former Burnley midfielder as he is considered a low-risk addition because of his prior Premier League experience.
Arfield has been quality for Rangers this summer and has shown that he can still be a threat in the final third of the pitch as he has netted 11 goals across all competitions for the Light Blues.
Those goals would certainly help a team like Crystal Palace, as they have been hard to come by, whilst his experience in the top-flight could make him become a bargain deal if he were to cost just £3million.
The Canada international, who can play in a central role or on the left-hand side of the midfield, could slot in beside Luka Milivojevic at the expense of either James McArthur or Cheikhou Kouyate.
However, whether Rangers would be willing to sell the 30-year-old just one year on and whether £3m is a transfer fee that the Light Blues will even consider for one of their key performers this season remains to be seen.
If the Eagles seriously want the North American at Selhurst Park for the upcoming campaign, Hodgson’s side may have to dig into their pockets a little deeper.
