Leicester City supporters are preparing to drown their sorrows once more here in the Football Transfer Tavern, with reports from the Evening Standard claiming Crystal Palace are set to pip them to the signing of Inter Milan starlet Alessandro Cannataro.
Leicester fans should be buzzing for the new season having pulled off a miraculous escape last term, but the sacking of boss Nigel Pearson and the appointment of former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has not pleased most supporters.
And they look as if they could face further disappointment, with reports suggesting Palace boss Alan Pardew has expressed an interest in the 20-year-old midfielder.
Cannataro is on trial with the Foxes at present, having terminated his contract with the Italian giants on Monday.
Whilst Leicester are still considered front-runners for his signature, interest from Palace could prove unwelcome, with the lure of London often a major factor when it comes to signing players.
Newly promoted Watford and Championship side Charlton Athletic are also monitoring the situation.
Palace have been busy in the transfer market this summer with the impressive signing of Yohan Cabaye from Paris St Germain, whilst an £8million deal for Connor Wickham from Sunderland is expected to be tied up shortly.
