Crystal Palace make enquiry for Branislav Ivanovic

Crystal Palace are keen to add to their defensive ranks in the winter transfer window as they look to improve their squad.

Roy Hodgson’s side have struggled in the Premier League this season and the Eagles boss is eager to make the required additions to his team in January.

And, according to a report by The Daily Mail, it appears that one experienced man is on the Selhurst Park outfit’s radar.

It is being claimed that Palace have made enquiries about making a potential deal for Branislav Ivanovic.

The former Chelsea enforcer is currently playing out in Russia with Zenit St. Petersburg, however, there are suggestions he could soon find himself on the move.

With just six months left on his present deal, although there is an option for an additional year, the Russians could be tempted to offload the 34-year-old for a fee in January, with Fulham and Barcelona also thought to be interested.

The Verdict:

Crystal Palace could do with looking at adding players to their defensive ranks this summer, considering the injuries and lack of options they already have available to them.

Ivanovic, despite his age, could prove to be a great addition to the side as he has vast experience of playing in the Premier League, having won the title three times during a stellar career with the Blues.

However, there could be better and more long-term options available to the Eagles in the winter that would help to improve the team, and with interest from the likes of Barcelona, it remains to be seen if a return to London is on the cards for the Serbian.
