Crystal Palace monitoring Max Meyer’s situation

Roy Hodgson is looking at improving the midfield at Crystal Palace this summer as he prepares for the upcoming Premier League season.

The Eagles have lost Yohan Cabaye after he decided to leave the club on a free transfer, whilst Ruben Loftus-Cheek has returned back to Chelsea following a successful loan spell with the club.

Those departures have left the middle of the field looking a little thin and the former England manager has been working hard to try and rectify that before the transfer window closes in two weeks.

Hodgson is already thought to have made a bid for AS Roma’s Maxime Gonalons and is also in talks with West Ham United about a deal for Cheikhou Kouyate, however, one report is suggesting he could go for an extremely ambitious target this summer.

According to The Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are monitoring the situation regarding Max Meyer, after he became a free agent when he decided to leave Schalke at the end of his contract.

The German is considered to be hugely talented and had attracted a number of Europe’s biggest clubs at one point.

The Verdict:

Meyer would be an amazing signing for Palace, especially considering he would not harm their transfer budget as a free recruit.

The 22-year-old is an attacking midfielder naturally, however, he has recently managed to adapt his game to a more defensive role, which could go well with Luka Milivojevic.

However, there may be concerns about the German’s wage demands, as it is believed a number of clubs have baulked at how high they are, however, Palace may be willing to take the risk.
