The Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern are becoming increasingly concerned by rumours linking Wilfried Zaha with a move away from the club this summer, but they accept that the likelihood of him leaving outweighs the likelihood of him staying at this moment in time.
Wilfried Zaha is by far one of, if not the most indispensable player at Crystal Palace, but it seems the progress he has made at the club is beginning to attract interest from rival clubs in the Premier League. According to The Sun, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are all set to compete for his signature this summer, so there is no doubt that Roy Hodgson will have a difficult task on his hands in persuading him to stay at the end of the season, regardless of whether Palace remain the Premier League or not.
However, if Palace are able to prove their ambition to Zaha by securing the signing of a handful of new players this summer they might be able to convince him to spend another season with the club. With that being said, Palace should do everything they can to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek (valued at £7.2 million by Transfermarkt) on a permanent deal this summer.
Loftus-Cheek has been in brilliant form for the Eagles since he arrived on loan from Chelsea last summer. His combination of determination and technical brilliance have been a huge asset for the club in a variety of midfield positions, and his performances certainly merit a permanent transfer.
Whether Chelsea will be open to offers for his services or not remains to be seen, but if they are willing to consider the possibility of offloading the 22-year-old England international then Palace simply have to make a bid for his signature.
Loftus-Cheek has linked up brilliantly with Zaha in the final-third on multiple occasions this season, and the pairing appear to have established a decent level of chemistry in a short space of time. But perhaps most importantly, the acquisition of Loftus-Cheek will prove that Palace are willing to invest and make strides towards increasing the stature of the club.
It’s unlikely that Zaha will be willing to stay at Selhurst Park for too much longer given the level of interest from outside Selhurst Park, but the signing of Lotfus-Cheek has the potential to convince him to spend one more season with the club before embarking on a new challenge.
