Crystal Palace open talks for Cheikhou Kouyate

Crystal Palace will be looking to strengthen ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign as they will want to improve on last season as a whole.

Roy Hodgson managed to save them from the drop with some well-timed results and managed to get the best out of the likes of Wilfried Zaha.

Palace will know that they need to make additions if they wish to remain competitive in the Premier League and have already added Vicente Guaita to the ranks and it appears they could be about to close in on another arrival.

According to reports by Sky Sports, the Selhurst Park outfit are in talks with West Ham United about the possibility of signing Cheikhou Kouyate, with a fee rumoured to be around the £10million mark.

The midfielder could be offloaded from the Hammers this summer as Manuel Pellegrini continues to add to his squad, and Palace could be prepared to snap him up.

The Verdict:

A move for Kouyate could be a good thing for the player this summer, despite having been a mainstay for West Ham last season.

The Senegal international would immediately boost the midfield at Selhurst Park and could be a smart piece of business if they were to bring him in for a deal around £10m.

The 28-year-old is extremely experienced and would help to fill the void left by Yohan Cabaye, who decided to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.
