Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern are praying for a win this weekend in the Premier League, as they welcome Stoke City to Selhurst Park, as they look to secure Premier League status for another season.
However, the Eagles have been given a boost ahead of the new season as Yahoo sources have reported that Fanendo Adi of the Portland Timbers is on Alan Pardew’s wish list for the summer window.
St Etienne are among other European clubs that are monitoring the progress of Adi who received his first call up to the Nigerian senior side this year.
Adi has scored 31 goals in 66 appearances for the Timbers since arriving in the MLS three years ago, and as our landlord here in the Tavern quips, he seemingly knows where the net is!
At 6ft 4 and 25 years-old, Adi’s quick feet and decision making in the final third was key in the Timbers’ late MLS title charge last season.
But, the prospect of Adi playing in the Premier League is uncertain as a lack of international caps could scupper his chances of sealing a work permit in England.
Our landlord feels Adi could be a shrewd signing for a team like Palace, but whether the Nigerian can adapt to life in England’s top tier is the issue.
Palace fans…. Excited about this news? Know much about Adi? Let us know your thoughts below!
