The Crystal Palace fans are looking forward to seeing what new manager Frank De Boer has up his sleeve this summer…
Other than the managerial appointment, it has been a quiet summer so far for the Eagles. That could be all set to change, though, with the BBC reporting that Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to move to Selhurst Park on loan.
A regular within the Chelsea squad but rarely in the matchday team in recent years, Loftus-Cheek clearly has bags of potential and is a good player in his own right.
The deal certainly carries a bit of intrigue, as Ruben Loftus-Cheek is at a strange point in his career at present. A couple of years ago, he looked destined to finally break Chelsea’s duck and force his way into the first team – but as of yet, that has not happened.
Instead, last season saw a regression under Conte – with the Italian clearly not a huge fan of the Englishman in comparison to Jose Mourinho. Add to that the numerous injury issues that he had last year, eventually leading him to miss England international duty over the course of this summer, and the move quickly becomes particularly interesting.
That being said, on his day, he is one of Europe’s most talented young players, and whilst he has yet to really show that for his club, he has proven his worth for his country – and Frank De Boer is clearly a big fan. A strong midfield talent particularly adept at going forward, the Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling excited.
