Crystal Palace should consider international as replacement for departed star

Crystal Palace are looking for a replacement for Steve Mandanda after letting him resign for Marseille, and England international Joe Hart should be the top of the list.

Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern have been mulling over potential new goalkeepers and Hart is the name which keeps cropping up in conversation.

The Manchester City keeper, who spent last season on loan at Torino, is out of favour at the Etihad and will be looking for a new club to ensure he makes Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup in Russia next year.

It’s unknown whether the England shot-stopper wants to continue his adventure playing abroad but our landlord feels he’s better suited in England.

He’s made 266 appearances for City and while admittedly his form has dropped off over recent seasons, he is still clearly a keeper good enough to play every week in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old has proved his versatility over the years having played for six clubs in his career and will be desperate to be first choice at a potential new club, having fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola at City.

Hart’s number one priority will be acquiring as much playing time as possible over the forthcoming season to boost his World Cup chances and that looks unlikely to come at Manchester City.

He’s played 71 times for England and he will desperate to boost that number.

To do that, it’s looking increasingly likely that it’s going to come away from Manchester.
