Crystal Palace are hovering in and around the bottom three, but will have every confidence that they can see off the threat of relegation and remain a top flight team going forward.
The Eagles have at times put in some superb showings, while also suffering from inconsistencies, evidenced by their league position.
With the January window now out of the way and the focus firmly on footballing matters on the field in the coming months, there will be some within Selhurst Park who will be tasked with coming up with a summer shopping list of sorts of the club.
And one man we here in the Tavern feel would be a superb signing would be Sheffield United John Egan, who has been sensational for the Blades since making the move to Bramall Lane from Brentford in the summer.
Egan has proved time and again just how influential he can be at the heart of the back four for United, and his performances have drawn praise from many Blades fans who might have been sceptical at the £4m the club paid for him in the summer.
However, the big Irish defender has more than shown his worth, and he’d have little problem walking into a Premier League team like Palace if given the chance.
A giant at the heart of defence who is no slouch across the floor either, Egan would be a brilliant signing by Palace if they could indeed seal a summer move.
Palace fans, what do you make of Egan? Good signing? Let us know!
