Crystal Palace's transfer window has been something of a slow burner this summer as the supporters had to wait patiently before a flurry of activity saw Max Meyer and Cheikhou Kouyate sign for the club in quick succession.

The arrival of Meyer and Kouyate has added strength in depth to Roy Hodgson's options in midfield ahead of the new season, but a recent report from the Daily Mirror suggests that he is also eager to strengthen his options in wide positions before Thursday's deadline.

According to the report, Palace are interested in re-signing Yannick Bolasie from Everton who is now surplus to requirements following Richarlison's mega-money move earlier in the summer.

It's easy to understand why Palace are expressing an interest in bringing the winger back to Selhurst Park, however, there is reason to believe that the Eagles would be wise to turn their attention towards West Bromwich Albion's Nacer Chadli - a player who could be signed for £17 million according to the Daily Telegraph.

The report claims that Chadli has a relegation clause in his contract which would force West Brom to accept an offer of £17 million.

The Belgium international was almost completely anonymous last season as he spent the vast majority of the Baggies campaign sidelined with injury, but he still managed to earn a place in Roberto Martinez's World Cup squad where he impressed with his creative intent and versatility.

Chadli provides a level of guile and composure in the final-third which Bolasie has failed to demonstrate during his career so far; despite his blistering pace and excellent dribbling ability, he has struggled to have a decisive impact with regards to providing goals and assists.

With that in mind, Hodgson should make a bid for Chadli whilst he has an ideal opportunity to sign him at an attractive price.

After spending more than a year on the sideline with a cruciate ligament injury there's no guarantee that Bolasie will be able to emulate the form which earned him a move to Goodison Park in 2016, so Palace should instead divert their attention towards Chadli in the final 48 hours of the window.
