Crystal Palace will no doubt be looking forward to the new season following their survival under Sam Allardyce last time out.
The Eagles have since parted company with the former England manager, and have now got the exciting prospect of being run by Dutch legend Frank De Boer, who has experience in the game at the highest level.
The fans here in the Tavern will be hoping De Boer can utilise some of his big game presence and knowledge at Selhurst Park, and some of this will no doubt mean using his contacts to bring in some top talent.
One player our landlord thinks the Eagles should swoop for is Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt, who at 17, looks to be one of the most exciting prospects in Europe.
De Ligt made 11 appearances in the Dutch top flight last season, and played in the Europa League final when he looked at home against an excellent Man United side.
The classy defender appears to have a cool head well beyond his years, and is looking like yet another top talent being produced off the famous Ajax production line. De Boer should have links in with Ajax thanks to his days with the club, and he could well use this to tempt De Ligt to the Premier League.
Ajax would no doubt want a decent fee for their young defensive star, but Palace could well stump up the cash to secure the signing of one of Europe’s top young players.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
